# Civilian Nuclear History Archive, Map, and Simulation Integration Report

## Status

Review state: reviewed-with-limitations; source-intake and website-integration evidence only.Release: IARPG-OPS-2 2.0.32-wip.Research cutoff: 2026-07-25 as declared by the uploaded workbook snapshot.Publication route: [`/nuclear-events`](/nuclear-events).

## Purpose

This report records the 2.0.32-wip change that corrects the publisher name spelling to Michael Joseph Kappel and replaces detonation-only nuclear wording with a broader **Civilian Nuclear Events Archive**.

## Source custody

The supplied workbook and accident/effects report are preserved under [`docs/source-files/civilian-nuclear-history-2026/`](../../source-files/civilian-nuclear-history-2026/). The source files remain individually addressable and byte-preserved:

- [`global_civilian_nuclear_history_2026-07-25.xlsx`](../../source-files/civilian-nuclear-history-2026/global_civilian_nuclear_history_2026-07-25.xlsx) — 412803 bytes; SHA-256 `1d04f1e98bcf3e7897e1f20dea4cc5151530c1af0e5bed4aeb87b1c407898451`.
- [`Civilian Nuclear Accidents And Effects.md`](../../source-files/civilian-nuclear-history-2026/Civilian%20Nuclear%20Accidents%20And%20Effects.md) — 76949 bytes; SHA-256 `704235386390b9b9fa6fa72f161e96f50f47216a323d686f7d7c2d6495b6d5c9`.

## Findings

- The public archive is now named **Civilian Nuclear Events Archive** so it can include non-bomb records before and after Marie Curie-era radiation science without implying that every nuclear event is a detonation.
- The archive exposes 2964 coordinate-bearing records from the uploaded workbook as local JSON at [`/nuclear-events-map-data.json`](/nuclear-events-map-data.json).
- The workbook-derived inventory preserves 804 power-reactor unit records, 374 power-reactor sites, 1600 lifecycle events, 35 curated 2024–2026 changes, 36 accidents/incidents/near misses, 37 breakthroughs, 70 research and demonstration reactors, and 77 fuel-cycle, isotope, waste, disposal, storage, and remediation facilities.
- The uploaded dashboard’s IAEA PRIS totals—417 in operation, 21 in suspended operation, and 77 under construction—are preserved as workbook metadata, not relabeled as a live PRIS query.
- Approximate dates, facility centroids, country-level coverage gaps, precision fields, confidence labels, and uncertainty notes are retained rather than silently discarded.

## Website integration

The new public route includes a local coordinate plot, filterable historical event list, coverage and source boundaries, machine-readable archive metadata, and public warnings that the map is not a risk surface, not a current regulatory database, not a live feed, and not a weapons-effects simulator.

## Safety and fairness boundary

The publication excludes weapons-effect equations, blast radius, thermal effect, fallout, casualty, targeting, deployment, sabotage, or operational nuclear instructions. It does not rank countries, facilities, communities, technologies, accident severity, safety culture, development status, institutional legitimacy, danger, blame, or targetability.

## Supersession Status

- Current for IARPG-OPS-2 2.0.32-wip.
- Supersedes no durable nuclear-event report.
- May be superseded by a later release if new source files, live regulatory checks, qualified review, or additional nuclear-event datasets are added.
