# Memory Maintenance
## Canonical hierarchy

1. `/.uai/totem.uai` — positive identity anchor.
2. `/.uai/taboo.uai` — hard-boundary anchor.
3. `/.uai/identity.uai` and `world-context.uai` — product and setting.
4. Domain memory — operations, authorities, operatives, tradecraft, evidence, AI sources, logistics, economy, infrastructure, jurisdiction, and representation.
5. `/docs/manifest.json` — canonical report inventory.
6. `/docs/reports/` — canonical full reports.
7. `/docs/source-files/manifest.json` — 219 original-file records and canonical mappings.
8. `/docs/source-files/` — extracted original Markdown files; no ZIP containers.
9. `/docs/uai/` — public read-only memory mirror.

## Maintenance rules

- Update the narrowest relevant UAI file.
- Put current conclusions in UAI; keep full evidence and exploratory material in `/docs/`.
- Add section-level `/docs/report/<slug>#<heading>` links for non-obvious doctrine.
- Preserve every original source file and SHA-256 mapping.
- Never replace extracted files with an opaque archive container.
- Rebuild manifests and checksums after durable changes.
- Record decisions and completed work in UTC.
- Prefer live doctrine over conflicting historical drafts while retaining those drafts for provenance.
